Are supermodels from the 90s still relevant in todays fashion scene?

Monday, 21 April 2008 22:02 by DannyT

In recent years designers and fashion celebrities have been fighting each other to discover new talent. However this summer it looks like we see the return of some famous faces from the 1990s.

Among the designers who are reintroducing the supermodels of years past are Richard Prince and his new campaign for Luis Vutton bags, using familiar faces such as Stephanie Seymour, Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer and Eva Herzigova. The campaign is even reitroducing a good old fashioned red american muscle car, so keeping up the reintroduction of the old and familiar.

Other designers going retro is Salvatore Ferragamo (Claudia Schiffer), Escada (Christy Turlington), Roberto Cavalli (Eva Herzigova) and Valentino (Shalom Harlow).

The prediction is also that more of these stars will come back into the limelight over the coming seasons, thereby raising the question of fashion starting to target an older audience and not playing as much on youth anymore? Is fashion growing up and are todays consumer no longer chasing the eternal youth image? Happy to hear any thoughts on this topic.  My view is that yes, fashion is perhaps growing up a bit, but that also creates room for new designers to come into the market. But it is also a sign of lack on innovation in communication, and perhaps that some of the designers and their marketeers are struggling to get on grip with the changing consumer behavior of todays fashion 2.0 world.

The fashion Duffs

Monday, 21 April 2008 21:21 by DannyT

Hollyscoop.com recently met up with sisters Hilary and Haylie Duff on the red carpet of the launch party of fahion line Kritik, a collaboration between themselves and fashion designer Lisa Kline from Lisa Kline Boutique in Hollywood.

According to the source they asked the Duff sisters if they were looking into launching their own fashion line in the near future, to which Haylie said that she was not sure, and that they would not claim to be fashion designers even if they love fashion. They expressed much respect for the talent it takes to create a whole fashion line.

One of the designers being supported by the Duff sisters is Jonathan Cheban, who designed Kritik as well.

We will keep you posted should the Duff sisters decide to make a move into fashion design.

Someone recently told me that it is trendy for girls to be taller then their boyfriends. If that is the case girls might need some help, which explains that platform shoes seems to be back in fashion. trendy must have sunglasses for spring and summer

Friday, 18 April 2008 10:41 by DannyT

Although sunglasses is an all year accessory, especially if you are a celebrity jetsetting the world or just trying to hide those puffy eyes from all the partying, spring and summer is around the corner so get those glasses out.

Sunglasses can often be difficult to get right and it all depends on the image you want to portray. Protecting the eyes from sunrays is one thing, protecting your image is a whole other issue. These are some of the trends of the season:

Huge sunglasses is still very trendy as we can see from this Paris Hilton image. perfect for hiding a long night of partying or to give yourself that posh celebrity look. These sunglasses are available in a large variety of prices, from the cheap high street knock offs to the authentic designer ones from the likes of Prada etc.   Paris Hilton sunglasses

The aviators are back in style as well. These classics always goes in cycle so if you have ever owned a pair this is the season to bring them back out from the closet and dust them off! They do look good on Sienna Miller, wearing the classic Ray Ban Aviators.   Sienna Miller in Rayban aviators

The big and square is another trend of the season, as shown here by Eva Longoria from DesperateHousewifes heading to see David Beckham play a game for LA Galaxy. A very classic look that is very much back in fashion this season.   Eva Longoria

Our advise is don't be afraid to create your own style this season to show off. Sunglasses is an accessory, so just make sure that you wear sunglasses that go with your spring and summer outfit.

According to Reuters, Luxottica and Stella McCartney have signed a new deal for the design, production and distribution of sunglasses.

The Italian eyewear group said in a statement that the deal signed with Stella McCartney Ltd, a joint venture between the designer and Gucci, would begin in January and last for six years.

TommyTv is where Hilfiger merges fashion and music

Thursday, 17 April 2008 16:21 by DannyT

US fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger has joined forces with Sony BMG to launch a fashion and music online tv website called TommyTv.

TommyTvTommyTv will show live performance by new and established artists that are sponsored by Tommy Hilfiger, as well as backstage access and exclusive interviews with the stars and the artists. It will also be the home of Hilfiger Auditions, which is an online competition where young artists can showcase their talents. The launch of TommyTv took place in London with a live performance by Parisian pop duo "One-Two".

Tommy Hilfiger, the world known fashion brand, has for a long time tried to establish a close link between fashion and music by amongst other hosting live gigs with a very limited guest crowd, called the Hilfiger sessions.

According to an interview with Reuters, music is the reason Tommy Hilfiger got into fashion, as he in the 60's wanted to dress like Mick Jagger and Pete Townsend.
